About Dr. Austin

When it comes to understanding the causes of illness, Dr. Austin believes in considering every aspect of a patient's story. She employs a holistic approach, blending a mix of traditional medicine and evidence-based alternative therapies to not just find a diagnosis but to genuinely improve overall health.

Her passion for functional and integrative medicine, particularly nutritional medicine, began as a teenager upon reading "Mental & Elemental Nutrients" by Carl Pfeiffer, MD PhD. Driven by the profound impact of nutrition on brain function and behavior, she found her calling as a physician and began applying her knowledge to address personal health challenges.

Living a healthy lifestyle is not just a professional inclination for Dr. Austin; it is a way of life. An ardent advocate for health and the prevention of chronic diseases, she is also an accomplished athlete with numerous top place triathlon finishes. Whether hiking, swimming, or mountain biking in the Texas hill country, Dr. Austin embodies her dedication to holistic well-being.

An honors graduate of Loma Linda School of Medicine, Dr. Austin earned induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society for academic excellence and professionalism. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from The University of California at San Diego, graduating magna cum laude, and was recognized by the Caledonian Society for distinguished scholarly achievement.

She completed her residency in full spectrum Family Medicine through UCSF/Sutter. During that same time period, Dr. Austin was selected to serve as the National Medical Resident Representative for the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM).

In addition, she was awarded the opportunity to serve as the Clinical Research Fellow with the UCSF Department of Dermatology Psoriasis & Phototherapy Center, contributing to clinical research trials and providing comprehensive patient care for severe psoriasis, eczema, phototherapy-responsive disorders, and general dermatology under the guidance of Dr. John Koo.

The challenge to discover the underlying cause of illness and the search for answers is a privilege that Dr. Austin approaches with great responsibility. She firmly believes that by uncovering these answers, the ultimate reward lies in enhancing the well-being of her patients.
